Intergenerational Education Program: Year 2

Oct 31, 2016 | What's New

We just completed the second successful year of our groundbreaking Intergenerational Education Program, a collaboration with Messmer Catholic Schools and supported by Bader Philanthropies.

The goal of the program is to bring older adults and students together to learn from each other, enriching students’ understanding of aging while allowing older adults to contribute to the educational process by sharing their unique gifts and life experiences. Over a period of six weeks, students from Messmer Preparatory School’s fifth grade class were partnered with residents of Milwaukee Catholic Home from across the continuum of care. A series of classes, presentations and activities covered wide-ranging topics directly tied to the school’s curriculum.

The recreation therapy team created a video with some highlight’s of this year’s experiences.  Enjoy!
