Honoring our MCH Veterans: Art Show and Documentary

Nov 2, 2016 | What's New

Happy Veterans Day!  Here at MCH, we are honored by the presence of many veterans, both residents and staff.  This year, we will be hosting a special art show presented by the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. Since their first flight in November of 2008, Stars and Stripes Honor Flight has taken thousands of WWII veterans and guardians on a one day trip to Washington D.C. Each trip has produced countless stories and compelling images. The Honor Flight team have curated the best, most moving images (about 120 of them!) into a traveling art show, letting viewers walk the chronology of an Honor Flight trip.  The exhibit will be on view in our Health and Rehab Center lobby for two weeks, starting the week of Veteran’s Day.

We’re also excited to share that four of our residents, all veterans of World War II, were interviewed by The Veterans Story Projectan initiative of the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center. The interviews were incorporated into a documentary aired on Milwaukee Public Television, entitled “Mettle & Honor: The War Memorial Center Veterans Story Project.”  The documentary is available on Youtube and is embedded below.

Again, thank you to all of our veterans for your service and sacrifice!
