Flourish Fest unites East Side organizations to celebrate aging and the arts

May 30, 2013 | What's New

In the summer of 2012, Milwaukee Catholic Home was excited to become one of the founding partners of the Creative Trust, a neighborhood alliance dedicated to fostering life-long learning in the arts. This alliance includes long term care communities, the UWM Peck School of the Arts, and area arts and culture institutions.

One of the most exciting collaborative efforts undertaken so far by the Creative Trust has been Flourish Fest, a weeklong celebration of creativity and aging. This festival took place the week of May 6-12 and showcased inter-generational creative efforts across a range of arts disciplines.

One of the festival events hosted by Milwaukee Catholic home was an art exhibit and reception featuring participants in Memories in the Making, an art therapy initiative sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association. Residents, families and outside guests had the opportunity to view participants’ art and to enjoy refreshments.
