Our Staff

Medical Director: James Volberding, MDc

Dr. Volberding earned his degree in medicine from Southern Illinois University in 1982 and completed his residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Board certified in internal medicine, he joined Madison Medical Affiliates in 1986. Dr. Volberding has served as Medical Director for our Health & Rehabilitation Center
since July 1997.

Director of Nursing: Chris Cotter, RN

Chris has worked at Milwaukee Catholic Home since 2002, starting out as an LPN. She attended the LPN to BSN program at MATC, graduating in 2006. She completed her BSN at Concordia University in 2010 and was promoted to PM Supervisor. She has worked as the Transitions Rehabilitation Nurse Manager, Assistant Director of Nursing, and since 2019 as Director of Nursing. She enjoys working in long-term care and being a part of the residents’ lives.

Nursing Home Administrator: Patrick Shaughnessy 

Pat has spent 29 years in the long term care industry and 19 as a licensed nursing home administrator.  His wide-ranging experience includes the opening and management of a 120 bed skilled nursing facility for the State of Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs.  He has served on the State of Wisconsin Nursing Home Administrators Examining Board since 2014 and is a member of Leading Age Wisconsin.
