MCH COVID-19 VIRUS UPDATE-June 2nd

Jun 5, 2020 | Leadership, What's New

June 2, 2020

Dear Families of all Milwaukee Catholic Home Residents,

We would like to provide you with an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases at Milwaukee Catholic Home. To date, there have been 3 confirmed cases among employees, all of whom were asymptomatic and are currently healthy without symptoms. Two of the employees were dedicated to the Special Care Unit in the Health Care Center on 2nd floor east. To date, there have been a total of 6 residents in the Health Care Center, all located on the Special Care Unit, with confirmed COVID-19. One resident has died as a direct result of COVID-19. To date, the remainder of Milwaukee Catholic Home employees and residents have tested negative for COVID-19.

The Special Care Unit remains in isolation with staff wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE) and working only on that unit. We continue to screen all employees and essential personnel prior to their shift or when entering the building by using a health questionnaire and by taking their temperature. All staff and residents on campus are required to wear masks. While this may be difficult for some, it is essential to reduce the chances of spreading the virus if someone is not symptomatic.

The City of Milwaukee Public Health Department will determine when the virus has been contained and isolation precautions are released. The determination is based on the skilled nursing facility, including the Special Care Unit, being symptom free and having no positive COVID-19 test results for both residents and staff for a 14-day period.

Please keep the residents, staff and their families on the Special Care Unit (2nd floor east) in your prayers for recovery and peace during this time

Sincerely,
