What is a CCRC? A continuing care retirement community or CCRC, such as Milwaukee Catholic Home, provides for the full continuum of housing, services and medical care for older adults.   A CCRC offers independence, security and support in a community environment.

I’m not Catholic, will I fit in? The MCH community embraces people of all faiths. Although about 70% of our population is Roman Catholic, we have many residents of other faith traditions. Protestant Services are available twice monthly.

What is MCH’s connection with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee?  Milwaukee Catholic Home has a strong relationship with the Roman Catholic Church in terms of history, tradition and commitment to service.  However, neither the Archdiocese of Milwaukee nor the Roman Catholic Church has any legal or financial tie to our community.

How will I adjust to a new lifestyle? Our staff and residents love our community and will take the time to help you acclimate and feel part of life at MCH. Orientation with staff, new resident meet-and-greet events and our Resident Welcome Committee all help you to establish relationships so that you will soon feel comfortable and ready to take advantage of all that MCH has to offer.

What if my needs change? You, your doctor and family can work with our staff in learning about the array of healthcare and support options available in our community. As a resident of MCH, admission to other areas of our community is available to you on a priority basis.  If you are considering moving to one of our independent living apartments in The Residence, visit our Aging in Community page to learn more about the flexible and individualized services available to you.

What are the costs? Will costs go up? At a continuing care community, your costs are dependent on your apartment style, your service area within our community and the level of support you are receiving. Our marketing and admissions staff will clearly outline your costs before you move in. Costs generally nominally increase on an annual basis, as determined by our Board of Directors.

What about security? What happens in an emergency situation? Our buildings are secured 24 hours a day by personnel at the front desks.  As a resident, you will have an emergency pull cord in your apartment, as well as a personal emergency pendant, that will notify staff from anywhere on campus and alert them to your location in case of a medical emergency.

What if I outlive my resources? Our staff can assist you with exploring public assistance options if needed. Through our Benevolent Care Endowment, no resident of MCH has ever been asked to leave community due to inability to pay.
