A Circle of Giving

Apr 10, 2017 | What's New

PARISH DAY PUMPKIN PIE MAKING IN H.C (13)Milwaukee Catholic Home was able to be part of an inspiring circle of giving when we hosted a group of volunteers from the East Side Family of Four Parishes for a Lenten Day of Service.

Thirteen parishioner volunteers spent the day at Milwaukee Catholic Home on Saturday, April 1: five in the Residence and eight in the Health Care Center.  The volunteers joined MCH residents in making pumpkin bread and pumpkin pies, using pulp from pumpkins grown at Clare Gardens which had been cooked and pureed by residents of Milwaukee Catholic Home’s memory care apartments.  The bread and pies were then delivered to the Riverwest Food Pantry to be distributed to the clients served by this ministry, completing the circle of giving!

In addition to the service work they completed together, the volunteers and MCH residents had the opportunity to connect, sharing lunch and stories together while the pumpkin bread baked.

We continue to be inspired by the deep bonds of community we are able to share here on Milwaukee’s east side.  Thank you to the Family of Four Parishes for sharing this time with us, and to the Riverwest Food Pantry for all you do to serve those in most need in our neighborhoods.

Enjoy some great pictures of the day below!
