Milwaukee Catholic Home is excited to further build on its relationship with the Riverwest Food Pantry. This year, through the generous support of Town Bank, MCH is able to offer a share of the produce from Clare Gardens to RFP. Town Bank employees took part in the fundraising effort, offering donations in order to participate in “Jeans Day” on designated days throughout the past several months. Representatives from Town Bank recently stopped by MCH to present RFP executive director Vince Noth and MCH staff and residents with a “big check.”
Vince is excited about the goals his organization shares with Milwaukee Catholic Home and the potential for future work together.
“Food is about more than just filling out stomachs,” he said. “Food can facilitate health, well-being, skills, and community. Food can change your life.”
The food pantry has recently put emphasis on food as an entry point for those in poverty to gain access to education, health, and community. Clare Gardens was created with a similar philosophy, as both a source of healthy food and a place of experiential engagement for residents and the broader community.
Vince said that all of this work is rooted in the Catholic values. “Healthy eating, creation care, stewardship of our resources – all of those things are intrinsically connected to human dignity and social justice,” he said.
