Mike Brauer: Thanks and Giving

As nature begins its hibernation process, members of the human family begin our ascent toward the holiday season by embracing a centuries-old tradition of giving thanks for the abundance in our lives. Before we enter into our various practices of giving gifts to family and friends, we pause and we give thanks for all we have received. Interesting, isn’t it? It is almost as if we first need to cultivate our souls — to ready ourselves by offering thanks — before we can freely enter into the act of giving.
